I have 7, 1-day old chicks (brown laying hens of varying varieties) and one Bantam (not sure what type) chick, who is also a day old. The Bantam chick is very noisy! She is just chirping and chirping and she is keeping the other little chicks awake. What can I do to calm her down? Or is she just noisy? She is like a car alarm! Also, even though she is about half the size of the other chicks, she seems to be a bully. I'd appreciate any advice that I can get. Thanks.

Hello! Sounds like you have a handful!!

Just check it is getting enough food, water and heat, if its the smallest it may be getting a bit left out. If this isnt the case then maybe try doing something too keep them entertained such as tieing a few lettuce leaves up in the cage and then after a couple weeks give them a couple mealworms for a treat. Also what i found helps with mine is making sure they see the difference between night and day. Mine are in a spare room and i draw the blackout blind at night and they quiet down and go to sleep.

Another helpful tip, just monitor the noisey chick, young chicks are quiet when cintent and usually chirpy when they want something.

Hope this helps good luck xx
