HELP! Bantam Cochin - ruffled feathers

I had this happen to a cuckoo maran pullet. I didn’t see her getting picked on but she was too scared to get near the others (only 6 chix) and so I think starved to death. Wish I had picked her up and checked. Her buddy, another cm was scared of the other chickens for at least 6 months but she did sneak some food now and then. She stayed in a nest box for safety and my husband had to get her out twice a day. She is alive and laying now but is cautious around the others. We have to Pearls that are her worst enemy. Did you feel her breastbone to see if she was skinny?
I had actually noticed before she passed, that she was kinda soft, balloted all over.

It had caught me off guard a bit, because since hatch she has been the energetic one, and my most enthusiastic eater!

Okay, thank you everyone!
My Corid came today, and I started everyone on it.

I haven’t lost another one yet, and the two who were hanging in the sun ruffled this morning have perked up and are now eating and drinking with the others. I had syringed water with Corid and a bit of sugar for them, and it has seemed to help for now!🤞🤞🤞

Thanks again everyone, will update later to let you know how things turn out!💖

Okay thank you.
She just passed.
I will try to find some Corrid to give everyone else.

That was the first day…..
I shoulda told you. Im sorry, I’ve been so busy.
DO NOT apologise. you have nothing wrong. im sure the grief is already setting in by now and i dont want to feel bad. i accidently missed that post be kind to yourself and take it easy okay.

Yeah, I will….
I liked the other one, (who survived) a little better.
She knows Im sad, and climbs in my lap to take a nap sometimes.💔

Merry Christmas everyone!

My incubator just hatched today.
Should I start the young’ns on Corid in their early days to try to shield them from the recent coccidiosis outbreak?
Or is it better to wait?

Yes, I would. Better to be safe than sorry!

Congratulations!

I wouldn't start Corid with just hatched chicks, instead give them the Corid at around 1 1/2-2wks of age.

If raising indoors, give them a pan of dirt from the run or areas which they will be living, this way they begin to build resistance to the things they will be exposed to. You can do this right away.

Ok, Thanks!
I was thinking 2 weeks as well!
Right now their water has electrolytes, and I kinda don’t want to pump to much into them all at once! lol

Yes, the first couple of days I give them electrolytes and plain water, give them little boost:)
