I noticed a large white spot on my chicken's beak today that I didn't notice yesterday. It almost looks like part of the top of her beak was chipped off and it has a small red spot in the middle. I am wondering if when she came out of the coop this morning she flew out and hit something in her run (I have a chicken swing set up that uses an old patio swing frame). I looked inside her mouth and nothing seems wrong, just seems like she chipped off part of her beak and it is swollen?...unless someone knows a disease that looks like the pictures? Any help/advice on either confirming that it looks like an injury vs a disease is much appreciated.

Look around for something sharp, such as a feeder or fencing, where she may have cut or scraped her beak. These type lesions on the upper beak are common among BYCers, and many threads in the past have described these as warts, sores, etc. Some have thought they may be caused by a papilloma virus, since many of them dry up and fall off. Some are thought to be scars from cuts. I hope you figure it out.
