Help! Been on duramycin for five days but still coughing!

He has a gurgly sneeze/cough. And when he breathes sometimes he makes a gurgly noise. Oliver is a bantam cock, six months old. I bought him at a flea market (Take my advice and don't buy from flea markets, too many sick chickens) along with a couple others. He's in solitary confinement, has had vitamin and electrolytes in his water along with duramycin for 5 days. His runny nose is gone, but his cough isn't...is this a really bad problem that I need to adress more seriously? Is there anything else I can do?

No it's really ok. He was beyond saving by the time I bought him anyways, so it's fine.

I'm sorry he was too far gone so feedback couldn't have provided a cure, but when you're dealing with something hard and when someone writes a response, it's good being able to see someone is feeling for you, I think, so I'm sorry you didn't have that right then.
I'm sure several of those who read your post felt empathy for your frustration, though! When I read it just now for the first time, I did. Trying to decipher & solve chicken health problems can be really wrenching & it's good to be able to share our wisdom and woes here.

And it was my stupidity that I bought him from a flea market.

IMO, the flea market has a lot of diseases due tot he amount of birds that go through there. I'm wondering that, due to the gurgling in his chest if he had that chicken respiratory dread disease...I don't remember the name, I think it started with a C?
Well, anyways, I'm glad we killed him. I think he had poor care all his life and he probably wouldn't have been in the best of health anyways for the remainder of his life.
Plus, I had no idea what his breed was lol. But, my, was he pretty! Wish I had some pics to share.

Yeah, he likely had one of the diseases that falls under the CRD umbrella. Pity. No one likely answered because no one wanted to tell you to put him down. It's never easy to tell people that when they seem intent on saving a bird that would be better served to just be put out of its misery.

I am sorry you lost him. I am also sorry that no one responded to you. That was bad form on our parts. My deepest apologies.
