noticed earlier today one of my chicks seemed to be slightly off balance when walking that she would stumble a bit and put her wings out and go along her way. She is running around still and pretty much acting like herself but the stumbling is getting worse. I just checked her crop a bit ago and it seems squishy compared to the other chicks that have harder crops. I tried to search but couldn't really find what it is or how to treat it. We just put them out in the coop and run about a week ago so she has been eating grass, dirt, bugs etc. What do I do and how do I treat her? My daughter would be devastated if anything happens to her.

well it was close to dusk so I put them to bed. Hopefully that was the right thing to do. I got monostat 3 (hopefully this is the right one, it is the liquid tubes), ACV with mother, garlic cloves and plain yogurt (all they had was fat free is that ok?????). Hopefully she is fine over night. Should I check her crop when I let her out in the am and if it is squishy bring her in and put her back in the brooder (dog crate) alone? I am worried that will stress her more. Then what do I give her if still squishy? if it isn't squishy then what should I do?

Oh I did see her poop once and it was normal. She was struggling to walk with out tipping a bit and having to right herself though.

is this the right monistat? https://www.walmart.com/ip/MONISTAT...atment-3-Prefilled-Cream-Applicators/21909799 Can I just use the applicator it comes in to give her some? how much? I thought I read 1ml 2x a day?

Should I bring her in the house and put her in the crate or bring the crate out to the run and put her in there so she can see everyone else? I want to have her be the calmest whatever I do. She is the snuggler of the group and is always trying to find someone to be near so I feel REALLY bad for her having to separate her. Can I put her in the coop with them at night since there is no food in there?

I checked this morning and it didn't feel squishy but I felt a small ball maybe golf ball size BUT it didn't really feel on the right side of her chest but more centered and up a bit so almost just under her neck. Is this an impacted crop? They had no food or water overnight until I checked. I let everyone else out of the coop but left her in with the door closed (they don't go in it during the day at all right now) with some water and nothing else. I read oil for impacted crop. so should I try that? Her balance is off, I saw her poop before I put her in the coop last night and that looked normal. She will lose her balance when walking though and either stumble and fall over or put her wings out to catch herself from falling over. She is still running all over and runs away from me. I have water with sav-a-chick and some garlic in with her but when I showed her it this morning she wouldn't drink it as she was more interested in going out.

Hope someone can tell me what to do and how long to keep her separated. I can bring her in the house or bring the dog crate out to the run so she can see the others or leave her in the coop but not sure what will be less stressful for her.

Hi @junior67 ,

Your chick might have ingested something indigestible, so adding some grit/sand and coconut oil to her diet could help to pass it along.

How do her droppings look?
Did you check her for lice/poultry mites?

I don't see any mites. My daughter is picking up some coconut oil to try. I will give her some chick grit as well.
Oh I read to massage the crop lightly after the oil is this right? How often do I give the oil?
I only saw her go last night before I put her in the coop and her dropping then was normal. She is in the coop now with just water but hard to check droppings

What breed is she? There are breeds such as Silkies, Polish etc. that often show effects of vitamin deficiencies, as they have a higher demand.

So it might be helpful to deworm her and afterwards provide additional poultry vitamins with her drinking water for some days, especially Vitamin B complex, A, D3 and E.

Sicilian buttercup. She is 7 weeks old and they all went into the coop and run a week ago. Bright now I have garlic, sav-a-chic, and nutri drench in her water
