I brought home some new birdies tonight, and now my peaceful birdies that we have had for 5 days are now flying up on top of the cardboard around the kennel and trying to go through the bars. I am afraid to go to bed tonight b/c I don't want to find one stuck, or walking around in my living room when I get up!

The one that is trying to get out is about a week old, we have had her for 5 days and I got her from TSC, I think it has to do with the new additions tonight, but I don't know what to do with her.

She should relax and curl up with the newbies by tonight

I hope so, she is freaking me out, of course she does belong to my oldest who is 15, like mother like daughter I guess LOL

How tall is the brooder? And baby chicks will act crazy and it will only take not to long before they realize it's their new home and wil calm down.

I have cardboard around the kennel and it is about 12 in high, and I put two sticks for roosting, but they don't want anything to do with them lol, she could just as easily jump up on the perch to get away from the new one but no she has to be difficult and try to escape.

They will calm down. Some birds are more flighty than others. I just switched my meaties and little layers over to straw bedding (from pine bedding) tonight. They are 3 1/2 weeks old and they would not walk on the straw until I made them. Now they are cozily nuzzled down in the straw, peeping their soft, happy peeps.

She seems to have settled down now, boy this is like being a new parents again!

Search zoomies. All chicks will go nuts sometimes. You really need like 3 feet IMHO for a brooder. After about a week they start zooming around the room.
