Hi,

We rescued a blind sex-linked chick a few days ago. She’s a few days old. What are the best ways you’ve tried to help your blind chick live life to the fullest?

Thanks!

Keep feed and water in a consistent place. Any changes in environment must be gradual. It may have to spend life as a solitary bird as vision impaired birds are generally picked on by flock mates.

Just wondering how your chick made out. I just took in a blind one (no eyeballs!) and am wondering if there's any hope.

I have a partially blind RIR. She is now almost a year and a half. She has her own place to sleep and eat and lays me an egg almost every other day. I let her out to free range once I am sure she has eaten in the morning and put her back in her cage. She follows me by my voice and easily lets me pick her up to place her back in her cage. He has manage to know where is everything located in the chicken area and so far has managed well. Having said this it took a lot of work and care to get her to this point. Here is a picture eating from my hand with George the Easter egger rooster. He has sort of become her protector.
