On top there is a little bar that looks like a 7 coming out of the incubator. Ture just a little then check, turn just a little more till you get it where you want it. Good luck

instaling a fan. should it cycle on and off or on constant. next, i have it running, empty, spot check probe inch off the bottom, temps 98.5 to 101.5 how do i set the battor to read 99.5 my cheapo springfield is all over the place to. should i have water bottles, should i buy a water wiggly thingy, i am through with junk thermometers, that why i bought the spot check. but i cant get it adjusted properly. i am not new at this. i have a cabinet type that kick but, i am just trying to use this styrojunk for hatching.

Man, I'm not a lot of help, I only hatched once. Leave it be for a half a day and see where it is. How much water is in it? Some how the water makes it more unstable so I do the dry hatch then add water at day 18.
Maybe someone that knows can jump in.

The Spot Check is great! Your incubator will cycle up and down, and the spot check will give those readings. It took me awhile to get used to it, but it is the most accurate. Watch it and see .... cycles up to the highest, then down. Your temp would be the average, in the middle of those readings.
Good luck!

thank you, someone else told the same thing, i was used to time delay, not instant readings, i realy love it now that i know how to use it thanks to all

I just got my spot check in the mail todays ago and I did not know this.

I have several thermometers in mine. My goal is to make the analog thermometer that is sitting on top of the eggs read a steady 100 (they don't fluctuate as quickly as the digitals) I have a (digital)sensor placed about 1/2 way down the eggs. That one fluctuates between 97.9 and 99.7 The probe at the bottom of the bator stays pretty close to 98. I'm assuming that the eggs themselves are more like an analog thermometer.....less subject to quick fluctuation because of their bulk and moisture content.
