I have just found a broken egg under my broody muscovie duck. the egg white is hard boiled. I took it and broke a bit but there is a duckling in some blooded water that moved a bit. it is day 32. what happened? I guess I killed it but I don't understand why the shell was broken and egg white cooked?! what should I do if I find more eggs like that? I put that egg back and the broody returned to the nest. should I leave that egg there?

Are you sure the egg white you are speaking of isn't the membrane? There shouldn't really be any egg white left to hard boil at day 32. When the membrane dries, it turns white. You could try wetting it with a triple antibiotic (without pain reliever) so the duckling doesn't get stuck.
Do you have an incubator set up that you can move the egg into? That way you can monitor it and make sure everything is progressing the way it should. You should read the threads on this site regarding assisted hatches. Not that I think you should assist just yet, but there is a lot of good information about membranes and blood vessels that I think everyone who hatches anything should be aware of. It definitely helps to know how the whole process plays out.

it looks like cooked egg white, it was very thick. it is very hot here. duck got back to the nest and I don't want to mess up. this is my first time hatching ducks.

if it is membrane that dried it is not my fault then. I found it like that. what happens now when I broke it? blood stayed inside.

I just saw reddish water and a duckling moved. I put it back as close as possible and the liquid stayed inside, only a drop or two on the crack. and it was transparent reddish, not blood. the broody went back to the eggs about 15 minutes later.

I googled hatching muscovies and none of the pics looked like that egg. that membrane was exactly like hard boiled egg white and it was about 5-7 mm thick.

Hmm, I have no idea what that is then. I can't imagine temperatures getting hot enough to cook the whites without killing the duckling. Could be normal egg goop, could be infection. Hard to tell without pictures...
Well if it was transparent reddish fluid, it should be fine as far as bleeding out. Sounds like that was just regular egg fluid. If it was still moving when you put it back, it very well could be fine. Probably best to just wait and see at this point.
If you do get an opportunity to get pictures of the white stuff, maybe even after the hatch is done, I would be curious to see it...

I will try to get a pic if the duck doesn't eat it. just try to imagine 3-4 minutes boiled egg with the white cooked and instead the soft yolk a duckling.

I will not touch any eggs any more and will wait to see.

The are 3 membranes, the first one under the shell will turn white when dry, break that membrane and only that one.

as I thought the egg was cooked I twisted it and it broke. there was a crack in a thick all white thing, exactly like boiled egg. the pics of hatching eggs I saw don't look like that. unfortunately duck turned the egg and probably spilled the fluid. I checked and she is standing above the eggs and no ducklings yet. it is day 33. it is going to be very hot I hope they will manage to get out before the membranes dry.

it seems another egg broke a bit and no ducklings. I can see something white, probably a membrane. how long does it take for ducklings to hatch once the egg broke? it is still day 33.
