Hello, we just received some new Australian spotted ducklings from Metzer farms yesterday and one of our ducklings keeps her one foot up and hops around on the other. We tried to straighten it and it doesn’t want to straighten at the hock. I’m scared I’ll break her leg if I try to straighten it all the way. Any suggestions would be helpful on how to approach this!

I am not that familiar with ducklings, but I would call Metzer. It could be an injury from shipping, but you can human B complex vitamins at Walmart vitamin aisle for extra niacin. A 1/2 tablet can be crushed into some moistened feed or you can get the injectable liquid B complex from feed stores and give 1/4 ml daily. Make sure that she is not trampled. Here is a good buy:

I've never had to treat a duckling for slipped tendon but this is the best info on it I believe. I would def let Metzers know.

I use a brewers yeast for a niacin supplement on their food, should I switch to something else? But okay I’ll check that link out, thank you! I’ve tried to feel around in the hock joint for the tendon but it just feels hard, I can’t really feel anything moving around.

She’s doing good, my husband has only been able to bend her leg about 90 degrees with really massaging her hock joint the same time as trying to extend it. I’m almost wondering if her tendon didn’t develop fully? I’ve been putting her in water and she swims around and tries to use that leg but it just won’t straighten out. We might try to extend it as much as possible and tape it in place? I just don’t want that to hurt her.
@MarnieRose How is your duckling?

That is a possibility.
I don't know what to tell you about taping it in place, and it not causing pain. Did you go to the emergency forum and ask for help? Someone on there may be able to give you advice.
Can she walk?
