Help! Broody hen stopped sitting on eggs

Final Update: 8 of 8 hatched! They needed help getting out of the shell, but they all made it! Two weeks later they are all happy and healthy!

Brenda: how old is your hen? I'm wondering if she may beginning a molt, sometimes it seems like broodiness because they might stay in a box a lot (my wheaten marans hen did)....

Oh good, well then, she'll be back to herself in few weeks! She may get to looking pretty rough for a little while, but if you increase her protein, it'll help her to grow back those feathers quicker

I give my birds table scraps, but I also buy cans of dog food or cat food on sale, to help supplement them when they need it....

I didn't know I could feed them cat and dog food I do give them table scraps though will that give them their protein I was going to buy the protein food

You could give them any extra eggs you might have, that would increase protein and help grow those feathers back....You can give them dog or cat food, it has a good amount of protein....

I know this thread is old but here is my two cents I incubated eggs the power went off and I did not have a generator I left the eggs in an off incubator for two and a half days because I assumed that they where dead since the power was off for 30 hours when I went to to chuck them away I heard peeps qiuckly I put the incubator back on and they hatched with help of course I won't make that mistake again

Our broody Lav Orp hatched out 9 of 15 eggs. Over the past 2 nights she has stopped sitting on the remaining 6. I can't help but wonder if it's because there isn't enough room under her for the 9 chicks and eggs or maybe she's just done. I heard peeping so I guess I'll try to hatch them with a damp heating pad. Any tips?
