Help! broody silkie, won't eat!!!!!

hmm... she is losing alot of weight. tomarrow we are going to give her some scrambled eggs and cat food. and no turtle power her poop is really tiny. i'm not really worried about her drinking since when we take her out she is drinking water by herself!!!!!!!! but eating is an issue i'll keep you guys posted

That is good, she is keeping good blood flow to her wings and legs. Sound like she is doing ok. If she was malnurished she would not want to move around at all. When you took her off the nest, she would just lay there and not move. Try and get the higher protein in her, but sounds like she is not at a point of worrying too much. How far in to the brood is she?

ETA: nevermind, due to hatch on the 15th. She only has a less than a week left, then she will get off and teach the chicks to eat, and she will eat a LOT

Oh my goodness! I am having the same thing. Mine was broody for a week and wouldn't come out, I had to physically pick her up and put her with the others for feeding time- but she would only graze a little and then sneak back off to the (empty) nest. I thought I would take advantage (in a nice way) of her broodiness and so yesterday put some fertilised eggs under her after moving her to her own coop the night before. She didn't move out of the nest all day though, not a smidgen! We put porridge right next to her and she didn't touch it all day. She is quite thin and just growls at us whenever we go near her. Would it be daft to use a little syringe to feed her some mushy layers pellets? She acts like she is really doped up and out of it. Poor little Patsy. Argh, worried

You need to get her away from her eggs and other flockmates... she will be aggressive which is perfectly normal for a broody, walk her and encourage her to move around, she will realise that she is hungry and thirsty... 40 minutes away from the nest is the maximum time away from the eggs.... I keep mine away from their eggs for approximately 20 minutes and it works wonders.
