I vote roo too because while my 3 Buff O's have some pink in their comb and wattles (they are 12 weeks old), they are not that red and they do have tails, hennish tails. Plus he just has that "rooish" look.
I have a BO 'hen' that wasn't a hen. At about 4 weeks I began to notice the difference, and now at 5 weeks you can definately tell it's a roo. The comb is a little bigger than the girls', but the main way you can tell is because of the color. Talk about some BRIGHT red!!! There ain't no mistaking that one!!! I don't know what size a 9 wk old BO pullet's comb should be, but I know that just based on color I'd say pullet. I've also noticed that my BO's comb is larger all the way down its' head, not just in the middle like yours.
looks like a cockeral to me. By the way roosters crow all the time, not just the morning. I love to hear them! I have 7 roosters and I love to hear the different sound each one makes. My vote is that your little chick is a dude!!
We also got our first 2 chickens (ever!) from Coastal at the OC shopping center about 9 weeks ago. SUPPOSE to be 2 pullets, but one of ours is a Roo too. I thought they ordered them already sexed! I bet most of us have a 50/50 chance when we buy our pullets there, lol
Unfortunately, we live too close to the neighbors to keep our little guy
Hello to West Linn !! I got my chicks from the Coastal in Woodburn. The BO's were straight run (mixed sexes) so I took my chances ! But all my others (2 RIR's and 2 Silver Wyandottes) were pullets....all seem to be so far. Sorry you have to get rid of your Roo!
Seems to be mixed opinion on this guy.... I am thinking Roo.... Will have to wait and see what developes

A question for you.... I am new too all this.... Do you have all your Roos seperate.... I always thought you could only have one or they would fight? What do you do with 7 of them.... dinner ? ? ? Or just pets?
