I need help calculating the correct dosage of Doxycycline for my House Sparrow, please.
I am unable to take him to the vet due to laws about keeping wildlife. I've had him for 11 years and he is my heart and soul.
I purchased a package of Doxycycline powder to treat suspected chlamydia psittaci
The instructions on the package are:
> Doxycycline - 20% powder
Package contains 20g per 100g.
Entire package contains 100g.
Treatment: 1 teaspoon (5 grams) per 1 gallon of drinking water daily.
My House sparrow weighs 39grams.
I weighed the package scoop empty and with powder.
> The scoop (empty) weighs - 1.712g
> the scoop with level (not heaping) powder weighs -4.815g
I dont trust that medication in drinking water will be enough as he will not drink it.
I would like to know how to measure out the correct amount to give him that I can soak into a piece of bread (his favorite) and give that to him.
