One of my hens has decided to go broody in the middle of winter. Can I move her egs and her so that she will stay warm. She is in a place that I can't put a heat lamp. I am worried that she will get to cold. Our nights are getting down to 20-30 degrees. Is this to cold for her or will she be all right.

We have had to move a couple of ours to our "nursery". We move them at night and usually DH moves and holds the hen while I transfer the eggs and in a couple of cases the chicks. Ours just peck at us a bit but they've never actually broke skin or anything.

HI THERE! I agree, just move her---I do it all the time. If she's a good sitter she will be away in LA-LA land and won't even notice!!! If you are nervous about it, or you haven't had her long, wait till it's dark or drape a light-weight cloth over her while you do it. Good Luck, but I'm sure it will be OK as once they are in BROODY-MODE they hardly register anything else.

Will she try to go back to the place where she put the nest in the first place?

Why do I not want her with the other hens?

How long will she be there?
