Help! Candling day 7

I do have a still air incubator and I keep my thermometer at egg level. It’s at 102.

And your doing chickens? Hopefully you've had prior success because if your eggs are 102, that is a bit toasty particularly as the embryo reaches maturity. Humidity may not be you major concern.

Yes. The last ones I done at 99.5 but was told in a still air they need to be 102. I’m so confused!

Okay. Eggs are incubated at 99.5 which is supposedly the ideal temp. Warm air is lighter than cooler air. In a still air incubator the air is not moving so unlike a circulated air incubator there will be a temp gradient in still airs. The warmest air will be at the top and coolest air at the bottom because it's not being mixed up by the fan. So the temp at the sensor which is above the eggs will need to be higher than 99.5 so at egg level which is lower will be 99.5.

Just remember at egg level it needs to be right around 99.5 or as the air cools and the heater kicks on and the high temp when it kicks off average to about the 99.5. Still.air units are a lot cheaper but a bit trickier to use until you get used to them.
