Hello! I have been chicken farming for almost 5 years - this is the first year I have had issues with Cardinals - not that they are really pests - but since they are wild I don't want to keep them away from their nests. For the last 2 weeks I have been finding a Cardinal Pair (male and female) flying around my hen run. I can usually open the door and guide them out - but I am not sure how they are even getting in. I have closed up any holes that are larger than the Poultry wire that encloses the runs, yet they do seem to keep getting in. I just do not want to see a wild bird kept away from their own nest for any reason, much less it being my fault. Any suggestions?

I had a couple birds get in last year. Every time I saw one I did an intense look over. I found really small spots that you wouldn't think of, but once I got that fixed, I have not saw anymore in there.

Now leaving the run door open gave me two rabbits, who are still living in tbere. Imagine counting chickens at night once in the coop 1 chicken, 2 chicken 3 chicken, bunny, 4 chicken--rewind...lol
