chick hatched a few hours ago seems to be bleeding from its bum area...what do I do? there are 7 chicks in incubator, 9 eggs left to hatch. do I open it and inspect or leave the incubator closed? there are smudges of blood on the paper towel liner under the metal grid and i can tell it was her.
thanks!!

It is probably where the yolk sac was broken away from the chick when hatching. Take some flour or even baby powder and put it against the blood and it will stop the bleeding. By doing this you are making an artificial scab basically. If it isn't alot of blood the chick should be fine. Make sure she does not tear it back up on the wire floor in the incubator. You can open the incubator quickly and grab that chick, use the flour, stick him back quickly. Should not hurt as long as you do not leave it open the whole time. I open mine to remove chicks during lockdown all the time, never have any problems.

Agreed. If your really worried about opening the incubator, open it

slow enough that a gust of cold air doesn't come through and hit the eggs.

I'm sure your chick will be fine
