Help - Chick broke toenail?

Sounds silly, I know! But I just want to make sure. I think she (4 week old red sex link) broke the tip of her toenail. I wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't bleeding. I'm sure it's fine, but I only worry about it getting infected...

Make sure the other chickens aren't picking at it; you might need to separate her....

What about rubbing alcohol? Can I dip her toe in a little bit to stop infection?

I had the same thing happen to me. I used a wet paper towel and applied pressure to the nail until it stopped bleeding. I watched her the rest of the day to make sure the others didn't pick on her. It was fine the next day. I should keep styptic around. You can get it at a pet supply store. You use it when you clip a dog's toenail too close. It's a powder that you dip the toe in.
