Hi All,
My month and a half chicks were out in the yard with mama and when every one went in to bed tonite, one chick was left outside and was cheeping, so I went to round it up and it was acting funny. It would fall over and have its head upside down and lay on the ground for a few seconds, it did this a couple times and now I have it inside with me in a box on a towel. It is resting but its head is still upside down. Its almost like a seizure or something. I gave it some water in an eye dropper with electolyte in it. Is this something any one has seen?
What else should I do.. She is a very fluffy white Silkie
Thankyou for your help
Sue

I wonder if it got knocked on the head. Do you have a heat lamp for it? I wish I knew something that would help. I hope someone comes along soon!!

a while back there was a thread describing what you are describing. maybe one of the moderators can jump in here and give you some advice or show you the thread that talked about your same problem. Good luck. Try looking under emergencies?

Thankyou for replying
I don't have a heat lamp on it yet what about a heating pad under the box?
It doesn't seem hurt in any way.. she is peeping at me once in a while and trys to lift her head
My husband thinks it might have eaten something ( maybe a berry or something and it is drunk)
but the others seem fine
I will check under " emergencies
' thankyou

Hi Sue,
Your baby has crook neck it is a silkie problem, It happens for few reasons. One being a head injury and they may take longer to recover.
The other is a defencey in the diet, silkies do not get something they need in the comercial feed we buy.
If you treat it fast it you have a chance him recovering.
If you would like me to call you I can just email me your phone number and I will give you all the tips I can.
It is a lot to write in chat.

Melanie, I emailed you. Thanks for your help.
I think there should be a thread stickied for it, I remember reading it long ago, but now cannot find it either.
