Help!!!!!! chick got a broke toe!

hi I have a 5 wk sebright chick who I found with a bleeding broken toe. Im not allowed to go to vet cuz costs too much.
its broken in middle on right 3rd toe and the toe is under an intch.... oh help otherwise dad wants to cut toe off and I said no way!! HELP!!!!! please!!

Post NOW on the "emergencies,diseases, injuries, cures," thread someone there should be able to tell you how to splint the toe. Poor baby.

Do NOT cut the toe off. You can cause all sort of infection. Let it fall off by itself if it needs to. You can make a splint for the toe to help heal it back together. I would put this chick in an other brooder that is a bit warmer than the others as injured birds get quite cold and need extra heat. You can make a splint with some popsicle sticks cut down and tape them on to the toe. Keep it taped up for about a month or 5 weeks.

Use a pipe cleaner and shape it like the chickens foot (toes and all). put it on the bottom and tape it on the leg and toes. This can be done with young chicks not older ones. good luck.
