Ok, I have a chick 1 week old. It is very swollen on it's bottom and it stinks! I cleaned it off thinking it was paste up, but this is different. It screams when I tried to put some oitment on it. It smells like an infection of some sort. It has a white discharge coming out its's bottom. I'm trying to post pictures, but not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can someone help. You need to see this. It is ugly! I just don't know what it is or what to do. I would give med's if I knew what to give! Please help!
I have uploaded my pictures of the chick in uploads. Now what? Wasn't sure how to put them on the page.

Can you gently soak the chicks little behind in barely warm water? Is it too sore to use a gentle soap on it to clean it up? If you are able to clean it, dry gently and put neosporin on the swollen area.

I soaked the baby in soap water for awhile. This poor chick hasn't pooped in days! It is all back up and keeps trying to go but there is no opening. I am surprised it is still alive. Any idea how to unblock a peep? I did get alot out of it, but there seems to be more hard stuff in there. I don't know if he is even going to live. He hasn't went since I brought him home over 24 hrs ago and I'm sure it's been going on longer than that...

not sure if it would work but they have infant enemas that are tiny try a few drops of mineral oil put it in like an enema on a tiny dropper. good luck let us know I would give antibiotics and I would put betadine in the water..dont think I spelled that right

Thank You all for your kindness. I lost the chick last night. It had a terrible death. I just think it was to far gone. I tried mineral oil, but it was too late. After I messed with it, it just didn't bounce back. It is possible something wasn't right inside, and it wasn't ever able to go. (Which would explane the large amount) I couldn't get pictures to post. Not sure what I did wrong. I've never seen anything like that before and wanted others to know. It was awful. I'm glad it isn't suffering anymore.

Just for information on constipated chicks... I have given olive oil enemas using an eyedropper. I had to do it several times to a few chicks but it totally helped and they pooped HUGE amounts when I did it and they eventually grew out of it.

Really sorry about your chick.
