Hello,

I have a little paint silkie almost full-term baby in big trouble. They were in lockdown and his/her shell was broken and almost completely fell away. Like, the insides were in the membranes still but no shell except for a little bit at the bottom. There is a lot of yolk and I htink the baby needs another day to finish healing. The sac isn't ruptured and blood is still pumping, and I have been wetting them to make sure s/he doesn't dry out...but I am wondering, has anyone ever given an albumin reservoir to a chick in need from a donor egg? I know that ex-ovo embryos have been raised under specific conditions, but this is different. This baby is fighting and I want them to live so much...please keep us in your thoughts and PLEASE if you have ever done this or think it will work, or if you think I should not add albumin from another egg. When I held this one in my hand, I could actually feel everything contracting, like this must be how they draw their yolk sacs in. You can even see the contractions. Keep going little angel! We're doing all we can for you!!!!!

Is this egg under a broody hens?
Do you have an incubator?

Can you post a picture of the egg?

No, not under a broody. No shell. I have a recorded video from the past hours; I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH and know others will want to know about this, too. In my hands the process of contractions to expel excess fluid and draw in the yolk sac began! I can't believe it! Baby is back in the bator right now. But I skipped adding albumen, just held the egg and re-wet with warm water every so often. Waiting for 1st breath, oh this is the final hurdle, please please pleeeeaaase baby make it! ::jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy

Can you post photos? If you have a short video clip, upload that to youtube and provide us a link.

Exactly what do you mean waiting for "first breath"? How many days has the egg been in the incubator?

I am in shock tbh; I never thought an embryo could survive all this and I have had lots of (ch)ICU patients over the years! Mind you we're not out of the woods...not at first breath but so far so good, contracting yolk sac is still going. Put baby in plastic bag with moisture and have some O2 going into the incubator in case. My baby has the best chance but of course all the BYC mojo helps so so much, thank you everyone for sweating this out with me. I love you all so much. :hugs I'd go crazy without you all.
