I have a week old silkie chick and it is very wobbly, and her eyes are always closed, she keeps crying, she keeps falling on her back and she's kind of making a sucky sound that's coming from her beak. She had drank a lot earlier, but she didn't eat. She had gone to the bathroom normal earlier...she's a bit smaller than the other chicks. Please help!

I think a bit more info is needed here. What kind of feed are they on? How long has this been going on? Is she the only one showing any symptoms? Are you giving them any kind of vitamin in their water?

She's eating manna pro chick starter. It has only been going on like this for around two days ( only been this bad for all of today) and getting worse. None of the others seem to be sick. No vitamins in the water either.

Okay....I am thinking this one may need a vitamin and possible antibiotic added. Adding vitamins when giving feed with amprolium may cause a chance of them getting coccidiosis. Slight, but it is there. Where this little one is also showing what sounds to me like a possible sinus, respiratory issue, I think an antibiotic may be the way to go as well. I would use Duramycin-10 in their water for 7-14 days at the dosage of 1/2 tbls. per gallon. this is the 400mg dosage and should clear up the respiratory issue. The falling over may or may not be caused by this. What i would do for my own is this...start them on the antibiotic first and give it a couple of days to get into their systems. On the 3rd. day add the vitamins. Keep posting back on this thread with updates please.

You can get the Duramycin-10 and Sav-A-Chick vitamins at Tractor Supply.

Thanks for your help. I'll have to go out to get them tomorrow if the chick is still with us.
