Wobbly

Update: Thank you. She is doing a lot better and I was so happy. Stopped wobbly and feet clearing up. Now she has very wet poo and is slowly down again. She never got back to 100 but was much better. I’ve attached 2 photos of her poop. I’m worried again. I’ve not treated her bumble as I wanted her to get stronger but I will do it this week and hope that’s it and she’ll recover. She is almost grown in her feathers but she doesn’t act or look all well. Thank you for any advice based on her poo. Poor thing.

Can you give her some probiotic plain yogurt or or some finely chopped sour kraut for probiotics. The antibiotics could be cauing the runny droppings. What is she eating now?

What is her crop like first thing in the morning before she is fed? It should be empty or pretty much so.

You mentioned above that she was eating the bedding - she might be doing this at the expense of other food.

(She should be off any antibiotics by now! )

If crop is full - I'd suggest isolation, bedding removal and introduce chick crumb plus water.

Edit. Is the black poop new and infrequent?

Ok thanks. She’s not eating regularly. She eats some of the chicken pellets but mostly wants the food I give her - sardines, cooked vegetables, soaked bread, oatmeal. I don’t feed her separately but try to a bit, so she gets some. She prefers to eat with the others. 1 is still pecking her which I aim to stop, but not there a lot of the time.

Also I bought bird probiotics for the water. I’ll put that in everyone’s water.

I wonder if you can please help with dosing of this probiotic. It says 0.5 g/L after the chick is 24 days old. Obviously they are much older. 0.5 g is 1/10 of a teaspoon per litre. it’s practically nothing! Do you have any guidance?

I was asking about her crop and if it was distended in the morning (when it should be ~empty) - My concern was the fact you mentioned she was eating bedding - which is "sharp" and this might cause damage to the intestines and bleeding - hence the black poop.

If the crop is hard/swollen (especially in the morning) then she might not be eating properly - a full crop says " no need to eat" - so she will poop a bit and then "top up".

Thanks. I’ll check her crop again. She’s stopped eating the bedding. When I checked the crop last time it was empty in the morning.
Yes she’s been off antibiotics for a few weeks now.
Poop is daily like that and not infrequent. It is new that it is like that yes. Very watery.
