I have a chick
half out, kicking up a stormm with one leg, but seeming head stuck. See photo. What should I do?

After 24 hours, you could try very gently chipping away at the shell with tweezers and using a bit of water to keep the membrane soft. Do little at a time. Interference is the last resort. See how it's doing, and don't keep it out of the incubator for more than 5 minutes if you can.

If it seems pretty stuck and it's been like that a while (or seems REALLY frantic, beyond what's normal for a hatching chick) I'd take it out, check the yolk is fully absorbed (shouldn't be too difficult to see with it positioned like that) and then remove enough shell to unstick its head if it looks ready to hatch. Put it back in the inc and it should do the rest of the work itself.

The instructions that came with my incubator say to remove the egg turning disk when lockdown begins so the eggs can roll around freely, which helps the chick/egg get into a more suitable position for hatching.
