Please help!!!! This is my first time having chicks/chickens. I picked up 25 Cornish X chicks at Rural King 5 days ago. I have them in a huge box in our heated garage. They have plenty of clean fresh water. I'm feeding them starter chick feed. Yesterday I did put some grit in there in a small separate feeder. Today I noticed one has a butt issue. I think it's pasty butt. I cleaned it with a wet rag and I put some Neosporin on it too. Truth be told it looks like she needs to poop but can't. I want to help her but not sure what to do.

Soak the chicks butt in warm water for several minutes to help loosen any stuck poop. You can add 3/4 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a quart waterer and change it daily. This will help with pasty butt. 1 heaping tablespoon of sugar in a quart waterer will help as well. You may need to wipe the butt with warm water for a few days, but this should clear up over time.

Oh, and make sure to dry the baby off so it doesn't chill. :-)

Pasty butt is generally caused by stress.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X3 on TwoCrows, soak the chicks butt, it looks like it has had poo that got stuck and hardened, it can be quite hard to get off.

First off thank you for the advice. I've cleaned her butt. However, unfortunately she hasn't moved all day. She won't drink water or eat either. I'm afraid she is going to die. :-( I've put apple cider and sugar in water to help any of the others. Although all the others seem to be in good health.
