One of my RIR chicks(4weeks old) is rolling around and scratching on her side. Is this normal?
Relax! It sounds like your chick is enjoying a dustbath. It's how they clean their feathers.
My baby chicks roll around and scratch all the time. I thinks its normal chicky behavior. Some even pass out on their sides sleeping. What kind of chickies are they?
LOL....oh yes and it seems to be about the most fun a chicken can have!!! Just wait til she is a big girl doing it in the dirt outside!
Whew!!!! Thanks I thought I was doing something wrong. The two oldest (Molly and Myrtle) are Rhode Island Reds. I have 8 BOs that arent even a week old yet.
How cute!! I got a baby Rhode Island Red today for my birthday!! The are sooo cute when they are little!!
I know this is an older post, but my 2 week old chicks just started this and it freaked me out!! I thought it was having a stroke or a seizure!! Normal chicky behaviour...ugh I swear I am more sensitive to things than when I had my own kids!
Thank you for clearing this up, I just glanced over at the girls and they are happy as can be. Whew!
Wait til you see them "dead" out sunbathing.
no kidding! i caught mine all lying on their backs and feet up in the air!
