Hello. I am new to all this. This is my first time hatching eggs.
My last chick to hatch (with some help) is having a hard time walking. SO I used the suugestions I saw on here and used a bandaid to keep his legs tgoether more.. he is having a hard time keeping his head up?? is this normal? he doesn't open his eyes very much either? he hatched on Sat. I have been giving him some Polyvisol drops with his water and also gave him a little yogurt last night.
I thought he was just super tired but he still does not pick his head up much. Any ideas?

Thanks.. we did that... it helps a little but what we are more worried about is him not lifting his head very much! Hatched on Sat. He still seems pretty tired. Gave him Polyvisol and some yogurt
Wish I new he was getting better
Keep your fingers crossed. Have you had some that cannot lift their head for very long?

Yes, I have. This is often normal in chicks for the first few days. Many times my chicks spend the first 2-3 days resting. I do take their beaks and carefull dip them into their water to get used to where to find water. I also make a wet mash for the first few days(just chick feed wet) and this makes it easier for them to grab and used to the idea of pecking and eating. Poly-visol is good as well! Only time will tell if this chick is strong enough to make it--sometimes there are things we can't see(internally) that don't allow a chick to be strong enough to survive and sometimes there are weaker chicks that come around and make it! Good luck!!!

Thanks... he does seem to try . he peeps at all of them and is the loudest one. I think he is trying to talk. The band-aid is on his legs and he now seems to keep his butt up higher and his head down lower.. but his legs are staying straight. I am just not sure about him opening eyes either. Thanks for your support. I hope he makes it..
