We have a six day old chick that prefers to sit instead of stand. When she stands up she often falls back into the sitting position and we've noticed some irritation on the back of her knee joints, but she IS able to walk. She just walks a little crooked sometimes and sometimes walks while hunched over in a sitting position, maybe closer to crawling. Her right leg might look slightly turned inward. It's hard to tell. Her legs do not splay out. The right side of her body seems a little bigger than the right and she seems to lean slightly to the left. We placed her on a flat surface outside of her brooder and practiced walking with her, lifting her body up, making her legs straight. I'm having a hard time justifying wrapping band-aids around her legs when it might not be spraddle legs. Has anyone seen anything like this? Do you have any recommendations?

You need to cover her hocks. If you don't, the scooting can cause infection and will kill the chick. Also, I'd recommend giving two to three drops of poly-vi-sol daily. This has to be WITHOUT iron. And add two to three drops to the entire brooder's water supply. Good luck!!
