Help, chicken attacked by dog.

So I checked on her this morning and she had come out of her tote into the box with her food and water. I think she was getting a drink but had knocked over the food. When I put her in my lap, I offered the chicken feed mush on a spoon. She started pecking at it and ate more than she has. I was kind of worried because she had just passed a water stool, that was almost all liquid. But I have been offering her the water with electrolytes a lot because she wasn't eating. So i'm thinking of offering her a scrambled egg with the chicken feed mush. I just really hope she'll start eating on her own before I have to go to work tomorrow.

You can try cat food. Salmon for all the healthy fats. Yogurt for the good bacteria.

Sounds like she is making good strides in her recovery. Don't worry about her watery stool for now. Continue your first aid exactly how you're doing it. You can remove stuck feathers a little later on when she's recovered more, but you can gently trim up any that need it now. Just don't pull, if they're stuck. The less stress on her for now, the better. Continue feeding her as you have been. You can scramble her an egg, with the shells crushed up in it too. Use as little oil as possible when making her egg. That will boost her protein, and calcium, which is good for her.

You're doing good.

Vetericyn is a very good product, so I would just keep using that. Barring infection, she should heal up fairly well. It will take time.

Watery stool is most likely from only drinking and not eating that much. Keep encouraging her to drink. You may find that placing the food and water higher will make it easier for her since she has a neck injury. You want her to stay hydrated.

Egg, tuna or meat along with her normal chicken mush is a good idea. Sick and injured chickens usually benefit from extra protein.

She’s eating her chicken feed mush, plain yogurt and some egg. I’m going to increase how much i spray her because it’s starting to dry out. Is it bad if it gets dry? I’ve been spraying three times a day.

It's great that she is eating/drinking on her own!

You do want to keep the wounds moist for while as they heal. You can increase the Vetericyn or apply some triple antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) to help keep it moist in between applications of the Vetericyn..

I don’t know for sure. She doesn’t like it when i spray her. So it’s usually the last thing i do with her. Maybe i can check 30 minutes later and put on the neosporin. But I’m trying not to stress her out too much.
