Help!! Chicken bald with red patches???

Ive just gone to pick my chicken up to put her away and saw that she has no feathers from her crop to her bottom!!! and its bright red?? really concerned have never seen this in several years of having chickens

A bit more information would help us sort through some of the things that *could* be going on with your bird. The first that comes to mind, though, based on the description of where her feathers are missing is broodiness. A broody hen will often pluck the feathering from her underside - the feathers line the nest and the exposed skin allows for more direct contact between hen and eggs for good heat transfer. You mentioned that you picked her up to put her away - was she laying down somewhere or out walking about when you did that?

She was just walking round she seems fine in herself nothing unusual hence my panic when I picked her up! I have posted a picture up I have never seen this before It almost looks like a reaction to something?

They all seemed to go through the losing of the feathers at the same time(I have 3) but I noticed she never seemed to be getting much growing back around her bottom I just assumed that she must have lost her feathers last and they were taking a bit of time coming back?

I've put some mite powder on all of them could it be mites that's done that?
