Help! Chicken closing one eye... sometimes

She gets basically 1/8 ear of corn a day, otherwise only feeder/ grower and chick grit. No other sick chickens. No lice or mites. Currently at the emergency exotic vet. 🫣
I’m glad you have access to a vet. That’s always great. Let us know how it goes, I hope she is okay.

Update: vet found coccid in poop in what should be pretty normal amounts but for some reason, may be causing her problems. We started her on tms (antibiotic also kills coccid) and she seems much peppier today but still not back to normal. Have separated her from flock and she's chilling in the big brooder box in our family room. Fingers crossed. Going to try to fatten her up a bit.

I’m glad you found something that could be explaining her behaving. Hopefully with treatment she’ll return to normal. Do you have to worry about the others? I’m not super familiar with coccidiosis infections outside of the strain causing largely bloody droppings.

I read that the bloody droppings are mostly a very severe symptom. Otherwise the symptoms are more general- fatigue, not eating well etc. Like every other thing that happens to chickens lol! She does seem much better after her second antibiotic. That's pretty unpleasant to give!

Ah okay. Well im glad you’ve gotten treatment and i hope she is on the mend. Yes, I have chickens who will fight me to the death to take meds and ones who are very easy to give them to. I’m always thankful when a course of medication is finished!
