Help! Chicken has a really bad wing injury!

Update on Corn: I went to check on her again and she got her bandage off. She had pecked at her wound until it was bleeding. I smelled the wound and it smells a bit sour, so now I'm pretty positive it is infected. I remember reading a while ago that wrapping a wound can make it fester, is that true? Is wrapping it making her infection worse? The problem is if I don't wrap it, she pecks the wound and makes it worse. What should I do? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I checked on her this evening, and her wound smells a lot worse. I could smell it through the bandage. I gave her the daily dose of Spectinomycin, hopefully that will help the infection. Tomorrow I'll wash the wound, and apply either Iodine or Blu-kote to see if that will help along with Vetricyn and anti-bacterial ointment. I'm willing to try anything else to help her! I'm especially worried about the smell coming off of the wound, what can I do about that?

I'm sorry she's hurt. I searched and found some links which might be helpful. It seems like the wound should be cleaned three times a day and left unwrapped. But if she's messing with it I'm not sure what the answer is. Maybe fashion a cone for her to keep from reaching it? https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...r-vent.948297/#lg=_xfUid-2-1608614750&slide=0

Please get some NuStock. This is made for exactly that type of injury. It is an anti-fungal, anti-biotic. It is the only thing I’ve used for years. It is made to stick on open wounds. It is nothing but sulfur and pine tar. I am NEVER without it. I‘ve used it on everything that walks, including us! You can find it at a good feed store or on line.

Thanks for the suggestion! I never thought of a cone, I think it's a great idea! I have a tiny kitten cone that will probably fit her.

I'll see if I can get some soon. I have a feed store close to my house, they might carry it. Thanks for the suggestion!

How's she doing?
She got worse, but is now doing better. The infection grew worse over the last few days, but now the green skin is starting to clear up. I removed some of the gunk from the wound as well. I've started soaking her wing in epsom salt water for 10 minutes in the morning along with the normal treatment and that has helped a little bit. I think she is on the road to recovery. Surprisingly, she is still acting like a normal chicken, which gives me a lot of hope.

You can also use silvadene gel, curad makes a silver wound gel and well as other generics. I know @Eggcessive has recommended fish mox, which I think is amoxicillin, which is typically what they prescribe for infections like bumblefoot. Silvadene was recommended to me by my vet for bumble foot because it hits both bacteria and fungus. It might be easier to get than other things because you can get it at a drug store or grocery store.
