Those are Broad Breasted White poults aka Giant Whites. They are a meat bird developed for fast growth to meet market size by the time they are 6 months old. They need a high protein turkey or game bird starter for proper development and the prevention of early leg problems. Chick starter does not contain the proper amounts of lysine, methionine, niacin or protein that they need.Bought 10 birds from TSC and told by them they were Cornish rocks but really think they are turkeys, thoughts anyone?View attachment 2141239

Take them back and show them the difference or just sell them. You can point out that chicks have combs while poults have snoods. Turkey poults go for much more than CornishX chicks sell for. Thanks for the input. I just called TSC and they are insisting they did not have any turkeys in stock when I bought these birds they only had Cornish rocks so I dont know what to do if these are indeed turkeys I dont want turkeys, I dont have the space for them.
They just sold my friend two “orpingtons” that are actually guinea hens. Idiots. She had not had many chicks yet and didn’t notice the stripes and other differences in the young ones. I knew as soon as I laid my eyes on them that they weren’t chickens. TSC really needs to educate their staff. Some of the advice they give to novice chicken keepers makes me cringe too.I agree those are broad breasted turkey poults I have 6 thats are 8 weeks old know and TSC never knows what they are talking about when it comes to their livestock it’s pretty sad.
That is insane. That's like a server at a restaurant giving you a beer instead of a basket of fries and insisting that they are the same thing. They just sold my friend two “orpingtons” that are actually guinea hens.
