Help! Chicken panting!

My silkie was doing that when i got home, but i dumbed out his water and put nice cold water , he drank and stoped doing that.
I think some are just picky with there water, I know mine are. On hot days there water needs to be out of the sun in a cool spot to keep there water cool. if the water is warm it will not help them. And when you see one doing that to much even though its drinking cool water, just spray them down under the feathers to hit the skin, not to cold water just a lite cool mist, this helps a lot.

Hope yours is doing ok now. Do the frozen water bottle thing it helps too during the day. When they are too hot they look for the coolest spot to lay, they will find it.

I know this is an uber late post, but in case anyone else searches this topic, swamp coolers and chilled watermelon do a really great job cooling them down too.
