Hi-- I just picked up 3 hens today, all approximately one year in age, from a family about an hour away. The move was obviously very stressful for all of them, but one hen seemed particularly stressed throughout the ride. We had to transport them in cardboard boxes, and throughout the ride she kept squirming and pecking at the box long after the others had settled down. However, when we finally arrived at our house, after nightfall, and took her out of the box, she seemed completely limp, and wouldn't stand up when we put her in the coop. The other hens seemed just fine.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated. Is she just confused because it's past nightfall, or should I be concerned that she's had too much of a shock? Since this is my first day of chicken ownership, I am completely clueless and worried half to death right now. I'm about to go out with a flashlight and assess the situation.
Thanks!!
