I'm hoping someone has some suggestions. My 3 yo americana hen is pushing like trying to poop or maybe lay an egg with no results. There was some mucusy poop with a bit of red in it which I've cleaned up. When she pushes the vent shows as raw/red/irritated on one side. Her general demeanor is that she doesn't feel well - moving slowly, quiet little noises when i try to help.

Anyone have any ideas on the issue or anything I can do to help her?

Thank you. I might feel an egg in her abdomen. I gave her a 15 min warm bath and put some Vaseline on/in the vent. She won't take any water from me. I've put her back in the nest box (where she stayed most of the day) and I'll check on her again and repeat the bath. I feel a bit helpless!

Water to hydrate her if she is not drinking is very important.
Dehydration will kill.
Have some tums laying around?
Crush one up and add it to some water and drip it into her mouth.

She is refusing to drink. I've offered it and tried to use a dropper to force it. It's been 2 hours since the bath and she's still sitting in the nest box with no success.

Poor girl. i don't know if there is anything else you can try?? Sorry.

Just an update: She was still in the nest box. I gave her the spa treatment - 20 mins in an epsom salt bath, gentle massage. I got her to nibble a bit on some baby food/water/tums mixture. Not much but hoping she ingested enough. Plus 2 bits of cold watermelon. She did have some gas then poop while in the tubby. She's back in the box and I'll give that routine another try this afternoon if needed.
