Hi. im trying to figure out if this is cause for panic. I have 5 hens (3 RIR and 2 Ameraucana) One of the Ameraucanas has a raspy sounding voice. Here is a video from today:
1) Ameraucana hen, about 10 weeks, got her from feed store on march 20. doesnt seem lighter or heavier than any of the others.
2) Raspy voice/clucking
3) first noticed this morning
4) one other bird has a similar raspy chirp but not the same. the other bird is same age but a Rhode Island Red.
5) no injury
6) We hit triple digits today in Las Vegas. Also have some Doves that made a short residence on the wall bordering the run, maybe their droppings carry something?
7) eating and drinking normal
8) poop looks normal
9) no treatment so far, just plenty of water
10 ) i have a vet appointment on Thursday
11) see video above
12) still in brooder box at night and let out in the yard in day. building the coop, almost done. box has shavings. when outside they are on gravel. access to plenty of water and food.
