I have a small flock of 8 and lives in Edmond. There's a park near us that only takes a 10-15 minute walk and coyotes & raccoons that live there. I've never seen a coyote there before but I have see a raccoon looking at my chicken from a roof twice. I held my guard and made sure the coop door was closed and locked and the metal wire fence door was locked, too. But after 2 months and no signs of the raccoon returning, I let down my guard. After another 2 months or so, I woke up in the morning and when I looked out the window, there was feathers scattered everywhere in my backyard. When I got to the coop their was only two survivors - Jelly and Yellowie. I could only find 2 of my chickens (GreyWhite and Peanut) dead body. On the grass, I could see first a trail of Runner's feather, leading to Butter's feather, than leading to Biggie's Feather, and then leading to Flawie's feather, so that tells me they're probably dead already, since I saw a little bit of Butter's wing. There wasn't much blood, like only a tiny puddle. But the attacker killed 6 of my chickens and took 4 of them.
I found a piled of stuff that looked like either throw ups or poop. It was kind of sandy-yellow and had some white spots on it. I searched it on google but it does not go to coyote or raccoon.
The attacker got through the metal wence some how. What can i do to prevent this from happening again?

So sorry for your loss. I agree. I have large covered pens with electric wires around my coops and pens and concrete under the gates all due to losses in the past. I also have several game cameras on my property and see predators on them quite often, mostly at night when they roam here. Lessons learned the hard way. Good luck...
