It has been only about 3 days since I really sat and played with my girls........ this you see in the pics is spreading too all of my bantams.....I do not see it on the big girls YET.......what could it be? it is dry...not moist........I have searched, thought maybe it was like what I saw in another post........about pox........just dont know. Most of them have spots starting. The one you see with the most advanced...well one of her eyes is completely shut up.....and the other is getting there.........what do I need to do? Sorry about the quality of pics.I had to borrow a camera......... lost mine ! Thanks all

you need to separate the sick ones immediately. (Pox spreads slowly but it DOES spread...the ill ones need to have separate waterers and feeders as this is one of the ways it spreads> you cant do a whole lot at the moment about the mosquitoes or whatever biting insect is giving it to your birds but you can separate which will help).
where the the birds are that show no symptoms you need to thoroughly clean and replace bedding etc. (have the birds away when you do this)
For the ill birds just treat the lesions by putting Lugols Iodine solution on it or just iodine or betadine ... this will help quicken them to dry and heal.

Unicorn...will this spread to the ducks.they all coop together? I will clean out the coop and run.........is there something I can do on the ground/floor of run and coop also? so you think it is pox? does this run its course if treated as you say? and they will be fine? should I try and open the one with the closed eye? OH this is horrible ! and thank you for the help

Here is the MERCK link on it:

you should add a supplement to their feed as a supportive measure and be alert for signs of internal (wetpox) which sometimes also occurs.
As far as I am aware the specific strain for chickens and turkeys do not affect ducks. If I find out differently I will be sure to post.

another question............ how often do I put on the iodine? daily? weekly? already see an improvement on the one that had it the worst? thanks for your imput everyone........
