Hello, I am new to this site. I have about 20 chickens, been keeping chickens for a couple years.
I found my hen today in the coop with her head hanging down and sitting on the floor. No previous injuries or illness. I've never seen this before, can anyone offer advise? I've attached a picture, I also have a video of her, but not sure how to load that. I appreciate any help :-(

If her weight feels good I would be giving her some tylan50, but you can see what some of the others say. Good Luck

Welcome!

Sorry, I too have not seen that before. I recommend posting on the Emergency & Diseases Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

I hope that you are able to determine what ails her and that she makes a full recovery.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Has she been laying? Could she be egg bound? Repost in Emergencies/Disease/Injury. BTW to post a video you need to have a YouTube account, I found that out. You download on YouTube (make sure you write down the link it gives you), then on BYC when you try to post the video a box comes out asking you for the link, something like that. It's been awhile. Good luck, I hope someone peeps in and can help you/your hen.

I hope the ER folks can give you some advice on what to do for your girl...it's always worrying when they aren't acting right.

Best wishes!

Please post that photo and as much detail as you can provide, regarding your hen -at "Emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread. Please realize when you go OFFline, there is no way anyone can reach you with advice. Something is really bothering her when she is in that position. Are you able to take her to a vet?

Thanks everyone for your advise; after researching her symptoms and reading similar threads it looked like Botulism so I did the epsom salt and molasses flush; she's got control of her head now. Just trying to get her to eat :)
