Hello, If I understand you, you have 3 birds? Do you have a brooder thermometer? What color is your heat lamp? A white one will make them cranky, complainy and they won't sleep well.
Welcome to our flock!

If they cheep so much, something is bothering them. If you have a thermometer put it on the brooder floor . If they are too cold they will cheep a lot. If they are too hot they may be panting. Are they actually eating their food (emptying the feeder) and same with water. Do they have pasty butt? How old are the chicks? That helps determine what the temp. in the brooder should be.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I think from how I have read this you have three chicks and have seperated them so the Sussex is now on its own and is cheeping a lot? It could be cheeping a lot because it's now on its own, chicks like company and separating them could be causing it upset and that's why its cheeping for its friends. How bad was the bullying? Depending on the age of your chicks they could have just been establishing their pecking order. Even though chicks are cute little fuzzy butts they can still get quite rough with each when sorting their order out.

Wishing you the very best of luck and hope you enjoy BYC I am sure you will, everyone here to help and very friendly :frow

If you separate one chick, they will instinctively cheep loudly as a way to try to get back to them. Chicks do not do well alone. When it can't get back, the others may cheep in response to help guide it back. Also, what is the temperature in your brooder? Remember, 95 for the first week, then lower it by 5 degrees each week until fully feathers. If they are cold, they will not shut up no matter what.

Anyway, what do you consider fighting? Too many times, people mistake normal chicken behavior as bullying and being mean. Remember that they will start sorting out the pecking order from day one. It sounds like you have an alpha chick for sure but I doubt you have one that you really need to separate.

Thanks i put them back together and used my pacman frogs heating lamp now they seem to be better the Sussex is doing well with the others but i no what u mean my one delaware push the others away and always wants to eat first i think its the alpha
