Help! Chicks irritated by pine shavings!

I've been using ABM (I think that's the right name - I'm new at this). It's the pellet bedding that they had at the feed store in the bins with the chicks. I think it's made from hay. Not nearly as dusty as the pine shavings. It eventually gets broken up/dusty by all the scratching but if you change it often enough, it's fine. Worth a try.

I'm really thankful for the help! I think I'll try shredded paper and look for that brand of shavings that someone else mentioned. Best to you all!

We use rice hulls and they work great! The rice hulls adhere to the poop and dry on it encapsulating the poop partially. The chicks stay clean although they love scratching in the shavings and kicking it up so you have to sometimes clear the water. We'll always use these! And it goes great into our compost heap.
