Hello! I hatched a bresse chick the other day (only one of 13 or 14 hatched) and it seems to have some kind of muscular or neurological issue where its feet keep moving backwards so it can't stand correctly. Its feet were also curled up, but we added medical tape (as suggested on this article) so the toes were spread out properly. Has anyone else had a chick with this issue? We would rather not cull since it's the only one that hatched.

How's your chick doing today?

If you search here, you'll find many threads about chicks having trouble standing, like this one. Sometimes a newly-hatched chick just needs a day or two for its legs to grow stronger; other times, help is needed. A chick chair may be an option to "train" the chick's legs to work properly. Best of luck!

Thank you for your help! Unfortunately the little chick didn't make it. :(
