I have peachicks 2 1/2 months old. It's suppose to get down to freezing tonight. Will they be ok without heat? They are in a 4' by 6' wire cage 6' high out of the wind and moisture. I have it covered/wrapped with plastic and tarp leaving it open at the front for ventilation. I'm assuming the chicks that are 4 1/2 months old will be ok?????? They are in a pen 10' by 30', 9' high which includes 10' at the end having a shed roof and walls on 3 sides. They are out of the wind. Thanks much.

like the last post said..
how many are there?
i have had birds all my life, peacocks too,BUT NEVER chcks!
these guys would scream all day/night if the temp went below 70!!!!
i would bring them indoors,or offer some heat source.
they are kind of "lushes!!!"
they can ,and will be able to survive, but start to scream/moan,when the temp dips.
if you can block the so called"death cries!!"
they will be fine!!
these birds are like the worse pampered pets i have ever owned!!!

Only 3 of them. I hooked up a lamp with 250 watt red bulb. The huddle under it while cold at night. It's suppose to get down to freezing again tonight so I put up another of the same for my older peachicks and just looked. They aren't under it but may move later as it gets colder. One of them is just growing her feathers back after being plucked by her brother I moved in the adjacent pen. They are about 3/4 green (Java). Thanks so much for the replies.

Don't know if I'm doing this right but wanted to thank you for the smile you brought to my face. My husband says my peafowl are spoiled rotten, LOL!!! I give the penned ones fruit and vegs every day, purchase meal worms for them and even visit them in the pens. One of my 4 1/2 month old Spaldings will set in my lap and all but one of my peas eats from my hand. The babies I raise to adults will eat from anyones hand and are under foot all the time grabbing my garden gloves, seeing if parts of my clothing can be eaten, untying my shoe laces, etc; I have too many for our 5 acres but refuse to send them away. This is their home and the other peas and I are their family. Poor Bob tolerates it but easy to tell he's not thrilled, haha!!! Nice to hear someone else pampers their birds.
