This morning when we let our chickens out to free range my son noticed that our Buff Orpington was bloody on her beak. It looks like a part of the top of the beak has chipped off. What do I do? She seems her mellow self and already laid an egg this morning. I tried to clean it up a bit.

I had been having trouble with my Ameraucana being pecked at by my Wyandotte, will the beak make the Orpington vulnerable?

Thanks for any advice.

I think that chip isn't a very big deal. Many people actually trim their chicken's beeks. Just make sure she is eating and drinking normally. It shouldn't make her vulnerable as she can still peck. The blood at the tip almost seems like she pecked another chicken that was bleeding although you might have wiped off the blood coming from the chip. I hope this helps!
