in our "aviary"

Those are so rare! I am fortunate enough to have over 20 of this rare specimens. Females are rare in this species, though. So be careful.

Seriously,
Get a good quality bunch of silkies and you probably could actually pass them off as that. lol. Let me know if it works!

I've been calling mine Tennessee redneck parrots. I have to remember "asian ground parrot" though.

Jane--I hope you can work it out so you can enjoy having ground parrots of your own.

I used to live right outside (North) of Boston, Woburn for 25 years. We had about 1/2 acre. Over the years we had Runner and Ancona ducks, Bobwhite quail and Salmon Faverolle chickens. Just a few of each. Our neighbors loved them! We in turn were good neighbors, never letting any of our animals cause problems. We had loose zoning-Ok if no one complained. Most people never knew we even had them! Would anyone report you if you got a couple bantams? They 're so small you could even bring them indoors in winter. My parrots are bigger than most bantams , and their in the house 100% of the time! I once had an Amazon bigger than most roosters! I'm not saying break the law, but JEEEZE! Sometimes the laws are there because someone is there to break them!

I'm sorry to be a pest-just another thought. Dye them green and teach them to talk lol! No one will know! I'm really certain most people would not recognize most of the fancy bantams as chickens. Tell them that you own "Exotic Corn Scratchers"

There is a cute kids book (7-10) out there called " Pretty Polly" by Dick King-Smith about a talking hen. It's not new, but most libraries have it or can get it.
