Help! Cockerel caught in trap! *ASAP*

Knowing traps, it most likely has gone right through his leg. I'd suggest a splint. Bring him into the house, take a rubber maid or tubbawere container (something deep enough for extra space), put a old shirt or something and tightly wrap it around the container. Cut two holes in the cloth for Truce's legs, a hole for each, make certain that his feet can't touch the bottom. Have a good and water tray for him and something to catch his poop on the other end. You may need a strap to hold him there till he gets used to it, such as something around his body so he can't hurt himself further by flapping out. That is the set up so his leg can heal properly. Keep him in a dark room to keep him calm.
Do a Saline rinse, boil water and salt together to purify, cool, then gently pour on his wound. (If needed while tending his wound, wrap something over his eyes so he'll calm down, and/or wait till it's dark.) Gently apply Bag Balm or Neosporin on his leg. (Neosporin with pain reliver is best) Gently and loosely wrap a band over the wound. Take sticks like popsicle sticks or just plain little sticks and place them against the sides of his leg. Then, if available, take medical or animal bandage and wrap it around the sticks to hold them in place. Make certain that nothing is too tight.
His leg seems to be in the right spot already, so you hopefully don't have to place anything. The splint and the whole set up I said above will help his leg heal properly. I say at least do the set up, and the Saline rinse, Neosporin, and band aid even if you don't do the splint.

I'm so sorry to hear about this with Truce. I hope that he feels better soon! :hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs
