help: cockerel??

think this pullet is actually a cockerel. only 2 months old. top of the pecking order but sweet as can be towards people.

Oh how pretty!! I'm thinking it might be a cockerel though, it does seem to have a lot of red in it's comb

that’s unfortunate.... he’s one of my favorite chickens, if not my favorite. he’s the cuddliest, gentlest chicken i own and always so very patient with my littlest brother (5 yrs old). i’m not looking forward to getting rid of him. it’s not illegal to have a rooster but i’m just not allowed to have one because the family doesn’t want to deal with the noise.

he also loves hugs. he snuggles his head up in your neck and lays there for a while. it’s adorable.

Honestly cockerels and cocks aren’t that noisy. You get used to the crowing and it becomes like background noise. How far from the house is the chicken coop?

she is correct, i had 3 roosters at one point and they were amazing! one would even "protect" me, whenever someone else came up to me with my rooster he would puff up and chase them it was the cutest! he never hurt anyone though he just wanted someone to love this! <3 (not every rooster is mean to everyone most are very friendly and cute!)

Oftentimes you’ll find pullets/hens to be much louder than a cockerel or rooster.
